”Frequently Asked Questions
How many hours do I need?
The best way to determine the amount of hours needed is to go over your timeline with one of us. If we know your timeline we can give you an accurate gauge for hours. We find the vast majority of couples don’t factor in enough time to cover everything they want. As a rule of thumb and to give you a ballpark though, most couples end up wanting coverage starting two hours before the ceremony start time and ending one hour before the end of the reception. Every timeline is different and we’ll be happy to give you an accurate recommendation based on yours, but at least this can give you a rule of thumb.
I’m thinking of doing both photo+film, would it be easier to hire you for both?
Obviously we’re going to say yes (surprise!), but it really does bring huge advantages if you use the same company for both services. First and foremost it allows us to be on the same page and working towards the same goal. We aren’t getting in each others way, fighting over spots to shoot, and generally working “against” each other throughout the day. We’re now on the same team so we help each other out, coordinate so we are as unobtrusive as possible, we grab shots for each other if we can. In addition we might pass on some stills for the video and the menu for the video to each other as needed and it helps make the product even better on the backend too. Working with the same company for the two services, whether it’s C+W or not, makes a lot of sense if possible.
What are Bonus Features and why do I want them?
Bonus Features are extended moments from your wedding day that you might like to see in full-length on occasion, but not every time you show a friend your wedding video (that’s how you get those 60 minute DVDs that drag on). The bonuses can include all of the toasts and the entire ceremony. They will appear as separate chapters on your wedding DVD so you can access them quickly and easily, anytime you like. Many people want all of the toasts to have, but they may not want to sit through all of them in their entirety every time they want to watch their wedding. These bonus features are included with the Full Coverage Package, not the Standard Coverage Package, but can be added anytime later as an additional option.
What is your Media Drive all about?
Our Media Drive Package is a great way to preserve your memories by having digital copies of ALL your wedding video files (Short Form Film, Trailer, and Raw Footage). It also enables you to watch your footage in a variety of ways: Via computer, Apple TV, or on your iPad. Having digital files also allows you to upload and share your content via Facebook or YouTube with ease. Finally, by having digital files you are able to use iMovie to manipulate your digital files anyway you please (maybe giving your dad a copy of his awesome speech for his birthday, or giving your mom a copy of the mother-son dance for Christmas… you get the idea!)
Why won’t my wedding DVD be as long as “traditional” wedding videos?
We refer to our DVDs as Short Form Films because they are indeed shorter than “traditional” wedding videos. Those videos could run from 40-80 minutes in length and basically dragged on forever (lets be honest, many of them were painful to watch). Our wedding films however, typically run between 22-28 minutes in length and essentially are a longer, more cohesive version of your wedding trailer featuring more details of your day.
Do we get a copy of all the photos?
Every photo package comes with the images on high resolution DVD. They are not watermarked, not web resolution, have no logos on them, or any of the other cheesy things we hear that are done in the industry. It’s your wedding, and they are your images. We like to deliver them along with the finished albums at the end of the process.
Do you have experience with other cultures?
We have a lot of experience working with an array of cultures and religions, with a particularly large emphasis on South Asian weddings.
Can we book photography and cinema separately?
Yes, both of our services are booked and treated individually. You can book us for wedding cinema without the photography and the photography without the cinema. If you are going to use both services though we highly recommend using us for both as it brings a lot of advantages (see above).
Do you travel?
Our most popular question! The answer is a resounding YES. We have shot weddings from NY to Bermuda to Puerto Rico to Mexico to Hawaii and everywhere else in between. Only a fraction of our weddings actually happen within driving distance from our studio so we are very accustomed to traveling.
Do you offer a Photobooth?
Some of our clients choose to have us set up a small studio, similar to a photobooth type theme, at their reception in place of a traditional physical photobooth rental. We love doing it as it gives us a chance to interact with the guests and really encourage people to have fun. We feel it really shows the true personality of your friends and family as well as adding an entirely new dimension to the concept of guest photos. If you are interested just ask one of us.
Do you have a studio?
Our storefront studio is located in downtown Troy near Albany, NY. Appointments are always appreciated, but we practically live in the office anyway so feel free to stop in and say hi if you are in the area!
