Laura+John @ the Canoe Club @ the Whiteface Lodge

I can’t wait to start the week off sharing one of our gorgeous Whiteface Lodge weddings!  Today we have a gorgeous Summer Adirondack wedding at the Whiteface Lodge in Lake Placid, NY! I tend to shoot up here every August and I just love it!  We always joke we need to put a secondary studio in Lake Placid because we shoot up there so much.

I love the details on Laura’s Augusta Jones dress, and the Manolo Blahnik shoes go so great together! The shoes were a gift from John. *hint, hint, Luke*.

What an amazing job Trillium Florists did with the flowers!

That emerald ring is the groom’s moms, and..

…those pearl earrings are the bride’s mom’s!

A few black and whites of John, looking calm, cool and collected.

Can’t really imagine a more picturesque place to get married than the Canoe Club! I love those hanging flowers too!

After the ceremony we went for a boat ride!

Bridesmaid dresses from Bill Levkoff.

Annnnnd, butter light time!

Guess who got a new cookbook? ME! What cute favor’s huh?

Congrats Laura + John! ~Alisha

Elisabeth+Bill’s Union League Wedding

Happy Monday everyone – get ready for an absolutely gorgeous wedding that I can’t wait to share with you. In addition to being a beautiful wedding with details that I drooled over, it was also a wedding full of familiar faces. I photographed Elisabeth’s brother, Evan and his beautiful bride Caitlin, a couple years ago and got to know the family. Pictures to prove it.

I’ve teased this wedding on our facebook page several times now, and you’ll quickly see why below. Let’s jump into it!

Elisabeth has impeccable taste and the dress and shoes, some of my personal favorite items at a wedding which we all know, were just awesome. The dress was a beauty from Amsale and those shoes? How about “something blue” and Oscar together in one sweet package?

C+W always manages to get hot brides (just browse the blog!)!

Soft light, nice details, beautiful bride… I love my job.

On top of all of that – you give me a family like this to work with? C’mon you gotta love these guys! Instantly blog celebrity status.

On a whim I jumped in the limo and had Andrew drive to the ceremony with the car so I could be in the ride to the church – and I’m so glad I did. I am in love with this moment between the family on the way there.

One of the things that makes our studio very different is that we travel a ton for weddings. We are word of mouth based for the most part and that brings us to a variety of different locations. I’ve shot in Philadelphia a number of times now and it’s these places with so much character like below that always stand out. You’ll also see with the Union League Wedding below.

One of my favorite moments of the day

Something especially neat about the church was the fact that it was also the place Elisabeth’s parents were married.

After the ceremony we hit up this small back alley behind the church for a couple portraits before we were moving to beat the weather

Meanwhile back at the reception room (the Union League) all the details were getting finished and prepped. Huge props to Rhoads Garden on some amazing centerpieces.

There’s also a shout out necessary to Chip Behr for this room as well as I know he worked hard on it. Chip I had to give you some official credit, especially for that lighting. The navy+pink color combination Elisabeth picked for the wedding also just really jumped once you entered the room.

During cocktails I was able to sneak Elisabeth+Bill down to the first floor of the Union League for some portraits

We also headed outside to take advantage of the beautiful Philadelphia city streets

People were getting ready to rock!

The lighting in the room was my best friend all night, especially with all the pinlights and spotlights.

It helped give everything in the room a romantic quality

A couple great moments with both families

That’s one proud parent right there

I’ll leave you with a couple more of my favorite night captures:

Dress: Amsale
Shoes: Oscar De La Renta
Bridesmaid dresses: Jim Hjelm
Flowers: Rhoads Garden
Cake: The Union League
Catering: The Union League
Entertainment: Right On Band

Lindsay+Anthony at the Aurora Inn

Up for ya today we’ve got Lindsay+Anthony at the Aurora Inn. Luke and I got married there so it’s always wonderful to go back and say hello to everyone!

Do you see anything unusual here? Peonies (the pink flower below) in August! You can only peonies in June, unless you have them flown in from Holland. Lindsay’s dad is a horticulture profession at Cornell so he ‘froze’ the buds in a super scientific way and made them bloom 6 weeks later, the week of the wedding. Crazy!

Wow, check out that Vera Wang dress and those awesomely blue Kate Spade shoes. We had  two Vera Wang’s this year and they have been some of the best dresses! I guess Vera still gots it.

The necklace Lindsay’s got on here is a piece that Anthony had made from the aquamarine stone in her grandmother’s ring, which is Lindsay’s birthstone.

The sashes and headband are both Vera Wang.

Crystal’s Spa did an amazing job on the hair and makeup! Those awesome bridesmaid dresses are Jenny Yoo, and those awesome flowers are from Michaeleen’s (and dad)!

The couples colors were black, white and watermelon. Great combo!

The facebook teaser. Had to show the front and back of that drop dead amazing dress!

Can Lindsay look any hotter? Oh yes, she can! Rock it girl.

Just a few CW Photobooth images!

Thanks for memory lane walk Lindsay + Anthony! ~Alisha

Sarah Goodwin: Such fabulous fashion and style! The Aurora Inn is a true gem of the Finger Lakes. The bride's gift (peonies) from her father is just the sweetest. A stunning event captured beautifully.

Kristi: What a fun dress. I like many wedding gowns from many designers, but Vera impresses me more than any other. The bride, and her dress, look like so much fun!

Beth+Colin’s Ventosa Vineyards Wedding

A wedding out in the Finger Lakes region, in a Vineyard, on a lake, with amazing sunsets in the background.  I’m pretty sure everyone know that’s a surefire way to have a stunning wedding.  And you know it as soon as you show up to the getting ready location and realize it’s a lakehouse, with a dock that stretches into the water, with a bunch of friends and family staying there all week. My kind of crowd! This wedding below has just about everything and I’m so so so pumped to be sharing it this morning.

Beth shared with me that her and Colin have a love for the beauty of Upstate NY, and wanted to share their passion for food and drink with many of their guests that traveled. I think you’ll see below that they probably succeeded in that :)

Makeup artist Robyn Fazio and Chrissy Weyrauch from Special Occasion Hair Design did their thing. Wow, Beth, you look amazing!

I love this soft, classic image because I feel it just shows the fun-loving, huge smiling vibe of the entire day.

The bridesmaid dresses were from Amsale, one of our favorite designers and they look great

Even during the getting ready portion of the day we have to find the most buttery light possible. If it means getting ready on the porch but having light like this? So worth it.

Beth’s Vera Wang stole the show, she looked absolutely incredible.

Straight out of camera, nothing even slightly touched

Another hot C+W bride, life is tough sometimes :) Beth though, in addition to being a hot bride…. also was very comfortable in front of the camera all day. You can tell in the shots.

Cosentino’s Florist did a great job.

You think the dark purple, green and gold theme they have going is working? I’d say so!

Colin and the guys looking dapper.

This was the first time I had shot a ceremony on the grounds next door, which was the owner of Ventosa Vineyards property… and it was perfect for a ceremony spot. It was early in the day so the light was a little harsh, but you know how we roll.

A beautiful ceremony by the lake late in the day – just like Alisha and I a couple years ago.

That’s Colin’s uncle, a Presbyterian minister who is marrying them! What a way to make this even more personal.

After the ceremony it was time to have some fun and throw down with the wedding party

And a couple shots of Colin+Beth for Ventosa Vineyards wedding photography

We headed inside for a beautiful set of toasts. From Beth : “We want our guests to feel fabulous while immersed in the sights, sounds, and tastes of the vineyard.”

Followed by a gorgeous first dance. The lighting just happened to be so low on the horizon that there was a huge spotlight coming in from the side that originally had us scared…. but instead we just used it to our advantage.

If you’re not sitting, you should before you scroll down through these next shots. Trust me.

Butta light time!!!

This was the teaser on the Clark+Walker facebook page

Absolute dream couple to photograph

My favorites of the day

Even on our way back up the hill we had to keep stopping – how many times a year do you get light like this? I mean nice light is awesome and we certainly can find it, but this?

Once we headed back Colin had a great surprise performance for Beth

I told you this post had just about everything didn’t I? Just about the only thing it lacked is more cowbell! Wait….

Off to the honeymoon!

A cool and meaningful bit from Beth:

I work as an editor and author in children’s publishing and Colin teaches music and reading to K-4 students. Our life’s work is to enrich children’s lives through reading and music, yet unfortunately not all children have the same level of access to educational materials. It’s been shown that a robust home library is correlated with academic achievement. That’s why, in lieu of favors, we are making a donation on behalf of each of our wedding guests to an organization called First Book. First Book partners with publishers and schools to bring new, high-quality books to low-income families. We fully support this mission to give all children books to call their own.

Thank you so much Beth+Colin for having us at your big day!

Heidi+Matt at The Sagamore, Lake George

Happy Monday everyone, and I cannot wait to share this amazing wedding at The Sagamore! When I first met with Heidi and Matt I knew right away they had style, taste, and we were going to have a ton to work with when we arrived at the wedding. I have to give huge props to Heidi though, she really nailed the entire weekend from the rehearsal to the last dance. The details, the decor, her Vera Wang dress, and she even must have called in a couple favors to get some amazing light for me :) I hope you enjoy the images below!

Yes that’s a 2nd dress you see in the background…. we know that’s a good sign for us to go have some fun.

Having a gorgeous bride always helps!

Matt has a little something to say about that as well… another hot C+W couple

Setting up a first meeting is always really fun to watch

The parasol Heidi snagged last minute was a great addition. Not only did it look great in pictures but actually came in super helpful with that crazy bright sun. Turn harsh sun into beautiful light…

Outdoor ceremonies right on the lake are incredible. The Sagamore weddings can’t be beat.

Robin from Fine Affairs really helped Heidi knock it out of the park – the room looked gorgeous!

These little favors were awesome

Surroundings Floral always makes the room come alive

Even the lanterns that hung during the dances looked great and totally different

I’m a big fan of the bride+groom saying a little something at their wedding. I know Alisha+I grabbed the mic during our dinner to thank people and to share some thoughts and feelings… it’s a classy touch.

People were ready to get ballin on the dancefloor though!

A little shout out to all the ladies that kept Heidi going all night, what a fun crowd.

Even though I loved her Vera, this cute little Mori Lee was a lot of fun for sunset portraits. I thought Heidi absolutely ROCKED it. This was the Clark+Walker Studio facebook page teaser

We also had a rockin photobooth going that evening!! I love how Heidi ordered a backdrop that matched her linens and decor perfectly.

Thank you both so much for having us at your wedding!!
