There is no “usual” style of cake when it comes to Clark+Walker weddings, thats for sure! There were single layer cakes, six layer cakes, and even a few weddings that featured only cupcakes! Some were rustic, some romantic, some glamorous, some cute, some simple, and some funky and fresh. Each cake was unique and truly reflected the style that the couple was trying to create on their wedding day. Take a look at some of the 2011 C+W wedding cakes and try not to drool!!

Laura + AJ – Union College Memorial Chapel
Laura and AJ met while they were students at Union College and after graduating both decided to stick around Albany to stay together. They were engaged five years later and when planning their wedding, they knew they wanted to be married at Union College Memorial Chapel, a beautiful little chapel on campus. They followed the ceremony with a gorgeous reception at Saratoga National, one of our favorite local venues.
We say this all the time, but we just love working with Make Me Fabulous. Our brides love them and always end up looking like a million bucks! Laura was no exception, especially in her drop dead gorgeous dress by Renella de Fina from Lily Saratoga. When Laura found her dress she immediately knew it was the one. She canceled all of her other appointments and let the dress take center stage by planning every other detail of their wedding around it, from the invitations, to the flowers, to the place where she got ready that morning.
Like we said, Laura was a total knockout. And that light! Love these shots.
Our good friends Rebecca of The Pink Orange and the ladies of Paper Dolls of Saratoga nailed it with the gorgeous stationery and paper goods. As she always does, Kris Ann of Fleurtacious Designs blew us away with the gorgeous flowers.
We love these next shots so much, it’s hard to pick a favorite. Laura and AJ were awesome to shoot and so obviously in love with each other. We loved working with these two!
Laura’s bridesmaids wore navy blue gowns from Alvina Valenta while the guys donned traditional black tuxes. Of course, a classic Clark+Walker group shot was in order.
With her beautiful gown as her inspiration, Laura planned a classically elegant wedding with romantic, vintage-inspired details. Soft blush pink, champagne and ivory paired with classic navy set the tone and special touches like cute jars of Sundaes Best Hot Fudge Sauce for favors and pink roses on the cake from Mansion Catering ensured no detail was forgotten.
Congratulations, AJ and Laura! We’re thrilled to have been able to shoot your absolutely gorgeous wedding and to have been a part of the awesome team of wedding pros who made it happen. We wish you all the best!

Style Me Pretty features
As our studio has grown through the years we’ve developed quite the portfolio of press opportunities, magazine features, real weddings on blogs, etc. I stopped blogging about them because we have so much of our actual work to share that I’d like to be what we feature… more of you and less of us. However with it being a little bit of slower season and being featured on Style Me Pretty twice in the past 2 weeks I thought I’d share the features on the blog. If you want to see more of our regular features and keep up with us more on things like this make sure to check in with our Facebook page as that gets more press love.
And as much as I like SMP, getting one of your brides posted on pinterest under “beautiful brides” is pretty cool as well!

Kristin + Steve – Aurora Inn
For those of you who have been reading along for a while, you may remember that last June we were married at the Aurora Inn. Imagine how nice it was to be back a year later, almost to the day, to shoot Kristin and Steve’s gorgeous wedding! These two are so obviously in love and just incredible together. It was such a joy to get to be a part of their day at a place that means so much to us.
Kristin and Steve met while attending law school at Syracuse University and started dating in the spring of 2006. Three years later, Steve proposed by sending Kristin on a scavenger hunt across campus with stops at memorable locations along the way. The final destination was the exact room where they had met – the ring was hidden under her seat. How sweet is that?
Kristin’s dress was a stunning creation from Suzanne Ermann Paris paired with jewelry from Tiffany & Co. She wore a long drop veil that was so classic and romantic. Never underestimate the power of a fabulous veil for rocking some gorgeous photos! She pinned a doll she received as a baptism gift from her grandmother under her skirt.
The ceremony was really important to Kristin and Steve, who planned their wedding around the color of blue hydrangeas and their shared love of the countryside – Kristin grew up with horses while Steve grew up with cows. They wanted a simple, elegant celebration that reflected their love for nature and wanted to showcase the Finger Lakes for their family from out of state.
Steve and Kristin were seriously awesome to photograph. They’re one of those couples you just know is meant for each other.
The cake was a five tier cake, a number they picked specifically to honor their four years together with a fifth tier to represent their future. Next to the cake Kristin placed framed photos of her and Steve’s parents on their respective wedding days. Before making the first cut, they made a toast honoring their parents, who between them have celebrated over 75 years of marriage. In addition to cake, they brought in a huge spread of Italian cookies from a favorite bakery in New Jersey.
Such a beautiful wedding and a really amazing couple – thanks, Kristin and Steve, for asking us to be a part of your wedding. Congratulations!

Leah+Seth’s Syracuse Wedding
Aloha from Hawaii! Both Alisha and I are out here in Kauai for a gorgeous wedding we’ll be photographing next week, but we’re still getting some work done. Before we left we photographed this gorgeous Syracuse wedding between Leah+Seth and I’m really excited to share. This is one really long blog entry so I want to jump into it:
Before we started the wedding festivities, I was invited to come and document the rehearsal evening. I started everything off by sneaking them over to a park a couple blocks away with some amazingly fresh Spring blossoms
Once I got back I headed into the Landmark Theatre for an awesome set up!
It’a always fun shooting really unique set ups like this
You know I need to do some romantic, classic, black+white images
After all the rehearsal awesomeness was over, it was time to head over to Syracuse for some wedding photography! Smoking hot shoes, and even hotter ladies… that’s how I like to roll
I liked Leah’s simple and classic dress
Meanwhile Seth was getting ready to rock it in style
The first meeting we set up with these guys was absolutely beautiful. I love images where I can feel the emotion running through the people in them.
The range of emotions we were able to capture was awesome
The ceremony was gorgeous as well
Time to bust out the photobooth!
Thank you both so much for having us at your wedding! I also need to give a huge shout out to Kelli Berg from Simply Beautiful Events for holding down the fort with us :) Thanks everyone and I cannot wait to share the trailer from this wedding with you as well.
