Wedding Date: April 16, 2011
Wedding & Reception Venue(s): Colonie Country Club for both the ceremony & reception.

Rich from the club was so accommodating and wonderful to work with. He had some great ideas, gave guidance when needed and was extremely flexible and open to anything.

Dress: The Bridal Gallery By Yvonne
Yvonne’s did a wonderful job on the dress and especially the alterations. We practically remade the dress with all the changes and it turned out perfect!

Accessories: Silver beaded hair piece from The Bridal Gallery By Yvonne

Shoes: Alexis Sandal Touch Ups

Hair/Makeup: Amy & Kyle at Make Me Fabulous

I cant say enough about the hair and makeup. It was ‘fabulous’! My hair and makeup stayed from mid morning to the end of the night at about 1:30am. I didn’t even touch up my makeup all day, just some lipstick here and there. It was amazing.

Bridesmaid dresses: Lazaro from Angela’s Bridal

Flowers: Aimie Wockenfuss

Aimie’s flowers were phenomenal. She was so great to work with, fun and full of ideas. I was so happy with the way the flowers turned out for the wedding.

Cake, Groomscake & Cupcakes: Sarah Bouleris

Sarah created those beautiful cupcakes which were so delicious. Guests were raving about them. The wedding cake had its own fans b/c of the fresh strawberry/buttercream center with white cake. Tasted like strawberry shortcake. I had guests ask me if there was any left over.

Catering: Colonie Country Club’s Table Matters Catering

Heard great things about the food at the wedding. We served various yummy appetizers and had food stations as well in addition to the dessert table.  When we finally got to eat at 1:30am back at the hotel (I had them pack us to-go meals), we got to taste the appetizers and other food, it was so delicious we wished we had eaten more at the reception!

Entertainment: DJ Dan Marcil

Christopher’s uncle Dan was the DJ and he did a great job. We rocked the dance floor all night.

Officiant: Rev Robyn Posson

I had so many guests remark on how nice the ceremony was. Robyn did a wonderful job officiating. Her sincere personality shows through in her work. Christopher and I just clicked with her and loved her.

Coordinator/Planner/Designer: The Bride!

Invitations & Program Design Kim Seabury: talented designer and great friend. Helped me pull the whole black and white theme together.

What are your wedding colors and/or themes? Black and White with Damask

What is your inspiration when planning your wedding?

We decided on a cocktail reception type wedding from the start since we both did not want a formal sit down dinner and wanted to make it more fun. We wanted guests to be able to be more mobile and social with other guests. We did have tables set out and got feedback that the open seating was really nice so guests could sit with other guests they knew and not complete strangers as what happens in assigned seating.

The damask pattern was the inspiration. I had trouble picking just one color for the wedding since I don’t have a favorite. So I stuck with the most basic of black & white which turned out great and made things very easy in terms of decorating and planning.

Did you incorporate any fun themes/motifs or design elements?

The damask was a fun element to the black and white. I carried it throughout the wedding theme. I bought some damask fabric, had a friend make the table squares and also the pillow case covers for the ‘lounge’ area in the reception.

We set up a white and black ‘lounge’ area in the reception room where guests could sit and relax. The catered covered the furniture with white muslin material. I bought two small black tables at Target. The tall lanterns on the sides of the couch are from our home.

The white paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling were a big hit too. Everyone just loved the look and they made the room more elegant and with a bit of fun. The paper lanterns were ordered from Paperlanternstore in 3 different sizes.

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

We cant wait to see the rest of Alisha’s pictures taken at the wedding and share with family and friends. The wedding was just so perfect. Christopher and I were so very happy with the outcome and everyone had such a great time.
